Maintenance Services

Maintain Your Valuable Investment

Hardwood floors are a valuable investment. Keith Clay Floors is here to make sure your floors get routine maintenance that protects them from heavy wear and moisture. Every so often these floors need a cleaning using a cleaner that manufacturer or a cleaning professional recommends. The cleaner should be for the exact hardwood flooring in your house. Otherwise, the warranty could be voided.

Call us today and let us set up a regular maintenance schedule for your home, business or commercial installation. We can tailor a program to fit your needs and budget.

Little things could make a difference in the life of your floor as well. Helpful hints from our qualified staff may bring to light something you may not be aware of. For instance, all of the furniture should have preventative pads under their legs. Any high traffic places like hallways and entrances need area rugs. Keeping the dog or cat's claws trimmed and making sure high-heel shoes won't scratch the floor is important. Don't use wet mops, urethane finish waxes, ammonia, or any un-recommended cleaning products on hardwood floors.

On tile floors, there are do's and dont's. Never use scouring pads, harsh cleaners, or brittle brushes on delicate tile floors. Mopping with a mild cleaner regularly will keep tile floors clean. They come with a sealer and the glaze has been set at high temperature. Bleach can be used for a bad stain like ketchup. Keith Clay Floors knows the proper procedure for using muriatic acid to remove stains from tile floors when necessary such as industrial stains. If your grout gets stained we can clean it.

What about a brick floor? Did you know it is fireproof and fade-proof. It is a great floor material for homes and businesses. It is porous so it takes a little maintenance and should be sealed first. This is the maintenance for a treated brick floor. Brick floors can be vacuumed or swept and mopped. Mopping with a mixture of one cup of vinegar in a gallon of water will make the floor shine. A solvent-based wax is recommended to prevent having to strip the floor. There isn't any wax build up with a solvent-based wax if a water based polish has been applied, so it can be stripped off with a wax-stripping product. Maybe we need to apply it with a scrub brush or floor-scrubbing machine using a brush attachment. A solvent based wax could be applied over a water based one, but not vice versa. Keith Clay Floors advises not to use acids, strong soaps, or abrasives to clean your brick floor.
