Laminate Hardwood Floors

Natural Stain Resistant Flooring

If you have been out shopping for a home, you may have come across the use of Laminate Hardwood flooring. There are a variety of reasons why it's use more these days. Price is of course one, but traditional Laminate floors have a high resistance to stains, scratching, and fading from sunlight which makes them more visible.

The usual construction of laminate flooring is done with a core of high-density fiberboard, there is a backing of melamine laminate, and it is topped with an image done on photographic paper. The cores are from 2 to 4 inches thick. The thicker ones are more stable, don't buckle easily, and have a more hardwood sound when stepping on them. The choices for the top layer image are natural flooring like stone or wood. Even so, their toughness is vulnerable to heavy furniture dragged across them or the claws of hefty dogs. The hybrid laminate uses a veneer of real wood that is extremely thin. Laminate is harder to repair than hardwood. But there are repair kits for chips and touch-up work, which Keith Clay Floors stocks. Plank replacing is also available.

On the maintenance side of the coin, Laminate floors don't require waxing or polishing. Though a particular padding is needed to reduce noise. This is great news for families looking for easy solutions.
